With Far Cry 5 right around the corner, people are curious on just how long the campaign will take to complete. In a recent interview with Gamespot, Far Cry 5’s Executive producer Dan Hay stated that “a good player will go through it in 25 hours.”
However that was just the start, Hay explained that this was based on playtests and Ubisoft noted that they had seen players getting distracted from the main story with various activities including hunting and fishing which extended the playtime, allowing most runs of the game to exceed Hay’s 25 hour prediction.
“What we’re seeing is people going into the world and just spending four or five hours fishing or hunting, or just doing stuff that we hadn’t really prepared for,” Hay said. “So it really depends on how you play.”
Along with the Campaign which can be fully enjoyed in online co-op, Far Cry 5 will include a Map-Editor which can be used to build head-to-head game types or anything else you want, giving the game to stay relevant and keep players playing for some time into the future. There is also the free Arcade mode which will include maps from the Ubisoft team and other players.
In the Gamespot interview, they also asked if the tools were powerful enough to create something in the veins of PUBG or Fortnite, however Hay’s answer was a bit vague. “That would be super cool,” he replied. “Obviously we are growing the tools with every iteration, and this time it was a big, big growth rate for us.”
It’ll be interesting to see what people can build using the Map Creator which is said to include assets from other Ubisoft titles including Watch_Dogs and Assassin’s Creed. On top of this, the Season Pass has been fully detailed and includes new Mini-Far Cry titles that are set on Mars, Vietnam and Zombies.
Far Cry 5 is set for a March 27th release on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
