Kotaku has reported today that they recently got to see a new video demonstration for the next game in the Tom Clancy Tactical Shooter, Rainbow Six.
According to Kotaku’s report, you play as the titular elite unit, given the mission to stop the threat of a American Terrorist Cell who are targeting New York City.
In the demonstration, it was shown that you take on the roll of a civilian who gets kidnapped by said terrorists, your then forced to hold a trigger button to prevent the vest loaded with explosives from blowing up. Later, on a heavily-populated bridge in New York City, you change roles, controling the Rainbow 6 team there to take down the terrorists and save the civilian.
The heads up desplay shows you the blast radius surrounding the man holding the detonator once you approach him. It also show you how many people are in the vehicles nearby, like a bus that is packed with people (not said if it’s a travel bus or school.) The decision you’re forced to make in this scene is to sacrifice the civilian, or risk the lives of everyone on the bridge, including your team. One option has you tossing the man from the bridge, experiencing some of his memories as he plummets, and then watching him explode.
Ubisoft is weighing out the morality gameplay at the moment, but I believe they should keep it in. With this being the first bit of news for the Tom Clancy shooter, it already has many people pumped up. I’m just hoping Terrorist Hunt (one of my favorite time waster modes) remains in this new Rainbow Six.
