Our favorite Red-head, yellow jumpsuit-wearing reporter from the ’90s is getting her time to shine. April O’Neil from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be a playable character in two upcoming games, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
Her introduction to both games was announced at Gamescom this week. Yesterday was the introduction to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, where she was introduced alongside another beloved character, CatDog.
In her All-Star Brawl introduction, her moveset focuses heavily on her role as a TV Reporter, using her camera as a weapon along with some of the turtles’ gadgets as well. CatDog looks to be unique in the way that players take advantage of both sides of their body and possibly have unique moves depending on which side they’re facing as Cat and Dog may do slightly different things.
Meanwhile, in Shredder’s Revenge, April will be able to put the hurt on the foot clan, also using her Camera and Microphone as well as her own martial arts skills. “Her agility and far-reaching slide kicks help her close in on targets quickly, and she once again proves the turtles can rely on her unwavering support, even through slices of pizza,” Dotemu said in an official description.
The new trailer for Shredder’s Revenge also showed off some new team-based moves including picking up teammates to throw them like a bowling ball, a shell (or butt) smash that does massive damage and reviving characters with pizza.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is currently set for a 2022 release on Nintendo Switch and PC. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawls is set to release later this year on Playstation 4/5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC
