When This is the Police 2 announced that it was going all in on the strategic and tactical part of police work during its reveal, I’m not sure people expected an X-COM style tactical combat simulator to be thrown in with the series mixture of adventure and management that it balanced so well in the first. However, THQ Nordic announced a nice twist to for new Sheriff Lilly Reed as she’ll have to keep her fellow policemen alive in dangerous situation
While the original game was focused in a big city forcing players to focus on the bureaucracy of being a police chief, the new location – Sharpwood – is a cold frontier town where players will have to focus their attention to dangerous situations. In such situations, the game switches to a new turn-based combat mode where you can gather up your team of cops and attempt to arrest the criminals.
Players will have to manage their team’s equipment and loadout, use stealth and non-lethal weapons and equipment to ensure that the they’ll be able to take down criminals. However there will be times where gunfights will be impossible to avoid, with the realistic point-of-view for the game, a single bullet can cost a cop their life.
There is no confirmed release date for This is the Police 2, however we can expect the game to launch sometime this year on PC/Mac, PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
