The Phantom Pain was one of the more interesting games shown at the VGA’s last year, mainly because it was a high profile game from Konami with a no name developer called Moby Dick studios, a company that only existed for a very short time. This and the fact that it looked very familiar to one of our favorite stealth games, led us to believe that “The Phantom Pain” was actually Metal Gear Solid 5. After some time of rumors and teases, we finally got some insight of what the game is. Which Kojima finally announced that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which also wins the award for the worst kept secret in video games.
Gameplay and screenshots were shown at GDC, where it shows that MGS5 will be following Snake after being in a coma for over 9 years, waking up to hide from a unknown enemy. Hallucinating will be a big part of the gameplay, and the game will be using Kojima’s visually amazing Fox Engine. Kojima also confirmed that Metal Gear Solid V and Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes will be separate games in the same world.
Kojima also stated that Solid Snake’s voice actor David Hayter will not return in MGS5, however he was asked to be part of Ground Zeroes which will serve as the prequel to the events of 5.
