The weather is cold, the furnace is running and their is a hint of a Joyful music in the air. Yep… Smells like Video Game Award Season.
The 2017 Game Awards is set to broadcast on Thursday December 7th and the nominees have been announced with 102 games and gaming personalities nominated this year. Nintendo picked up the most nominations with an impressive 23 nominations, while Sony (15) and Activision (7) following closely behind.
Picking the prestiegous Game of the Year will probably be the most difficult it has been in a long while with Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, Persona 5 and Horizon: Zero Dawn all fighting to prove they (rightfully) the best games of the year. Four games were able to pick up Six Nominations including Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Horizon and Destiny 2.
The winners will be announced during the livestream of The Game Awards on December 7th, which will be picked 51 global media outlets including GameSpot, Polygon and Giant Bomb. Fans can vote on several categories such as Best ESports Team and Most Anticipated Game by typing “Game Awards Vote” in Google or by going to The Game Awards site directly http://thegameawards.com/awards/.

Like every Game Awards show before it, the broadcast will also feature game announcements and new trailers, as well as musical performances, the biggest is the new Game Awards Orchestra, a group of “some of the world’s most talented orchestral and rock musicians.” You can also expect a sale on the nominated games on PSN, Xbox Live and other digital platforms in early December.
Last year, Blizzard’s Overwatch took home Game of the Year and the show brought in 8.5 million viewers through livestreams via Twitch, Youtube and various other platforms.
