The Evil Dead is a movie series that much like the evils of the Necronomicon, will just not die. Not that we’re complaining, however the series has spawned three main movies, a reboot, a comic book series, a very good T.V. series (Ash vs the Evil Dead) and a series of video games.
On the Video Game aspect, we have been confirmed that a new Evil Dead video game is in development with many reporting that the game will be a VR based title. However, Bruce Campbell – Ash Williams himself, has come out via Twitter to confirm that his Boomstick is too big for VR.
Hey, groovy gamers, this is a swell time to clarify some incorrect info that might be out there (including from me!): the upcoming Evil Dead video game is being developed for consoles and PC, not VR. Sorry for any confusion. Game on! #MyBoomstickIsTooBigForVR #EvilDeadTheGame pic.twitter.com/Jqh2BGW82p

Aside from the confirmation that the game is coming to consoles and PC, that is as much about the game that we know at this time as no release date, or development team, has been stated for the game. We do know that the game has been in the works for some time, as Bruce Campbell talked about the title in August 2018 with Bloody-Disgusting, stating that the game is a “whole immersive kind of dealio” and that he would return to voice Ash because he “wouldn’t want someone else’s voice hamming it up.”
The Evil Dead series has spawned 3 games including Evil Dead: Hail to the King (2000), Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick (2003) and Evil Dead: Regeneration (2005), which were all published by THQ. It is unclear if THQ Nordic has the rights to the Evil Dead brand at this time or if they will be acting as publisher for the upcoming game.
