NIS America announced that they will be bringing the 2017 PSVita JRPG – The Caligula Effect, to PS4, Nintendo Switch and Steam in 2019 as The Caligula Effect: Overdose.
Set in an idyllic world called Mobius that exists for the purpose of letting people forget about their problems in reality, and relive their high school years in bliss. As with most virtual worlds, some of the people in the Mobius see the world as a prison and attempt to break out by fighting its ruler – a vocaloid program called Mu.
Overdose sees several major updates to the Vita JRPG, which includes new visuals thanks to the Unreal 4 engine, gameplay updates, new scenarios, endings and a new playable female character and two new members of the “Go-Home” Club.
The series is written by Revelations: Persona, and Persona 2 (Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment) scribe Tadashi Satomi, and an anime of the game – titled Caligula – was premiered earlier this year. NIS America did not give a full release date for The Caligula Effect: Overdose at this time, however they gave a release window of 2019.
