As we all know, AMC’s The Walking Dead is a huge show, and like most zombie apocalypses it’s stories can be told in different ways. Such as the Telltale point and click games (which are amazing.)
Now we wouldn’t expect another Walking Dead game to be out on the market so soon, especially since Telltale games are not even done their 5 episode series yet, but Activision announced today that a new ‘The Walking Dead’ Game will be coming along next year from ‘Ghostbuster: the Video Game’ developers Terminal Reality.
The new Walking Dead game will be a first person shooter where players will take control of Daryl Dixon, who is traveling with his brother Merle toward Atlanta. According to IGN, players can use stealth to avoid the zombies, and will have to manage scarce resources. Also other characters will appear and you’ll have the choice to have them travel with you or not.
So a good question is, what does Telltale think about this? “Regarding today’s announcement of a project based [on] the AMC TV series coming in 2013,” said Steve Allison, senior vice president of marketing at Telltale, “as huge fans of the franchise and the show, we’re looking forward to seeing Terminal Reality’s game when it comes out.”
Of course in Steve’s interview with Polygon, he let loose the news of a second season.
“We believe there is no better company than Telltale to bring complex narrative IP to interactive entertainment. Our first episodic game series based on The Walking Dead has sold nearly 1.7 million episodes to consumers in just our first 8 weeks with no signs of slowing down. We have three more episodes to go with Episode 3 targeted for August as we confirmed yesterday.
“Following the digital release of our fifth episode we will also be coming to North American retail shortly thereafter and this will not be the last The Walking Dead game series that we do.”
