Another game that we’ll get to see during Square Enix’s E3 event on June 10th is a surprising one. Techland Publishing has announced that they will be partnering with Square Enix to distribute their open world-free running-zombie filled RPG, Dying Light 2, in the Americas.
“We couldn’t be more excited to join forces with Square Enix. This partnership represents an incredible opportunity for both companies to bring Modern Dark Ages to audiences across Americas,” – said Ed Lin, Head of Marketing at Techland in a press release. “Our partnership kicks off this year at E3 and we are looking forward to a great campaign that showcases the fan favorite Dying Light DNA in the expansive and savage world of the infected.”
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Techland on one of the industry’s most anticipated games, Dying Light 2,” said John Heinecke, Chief Marketing Officer at Square Enix. “The game is setting up to be an innovative, ambitious project, and we believe players will be delighted with what they deliver. This game fits incredibly well into our portfolio, and we’re looking forward to showing more at E3.”
While a lot of the core aspects of Dying Light has survived to the sequel, such as the brutal combat, parkour, and crazed Zombies who only become more frightening at night, the sequel however focuses on a new story and gives us a taste of what would be a Modern Dark Ages. The game also has an ambitious karma system in which your decisions affect the world around you on multiple levels.
Dying Light 2 will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC, however no release date has been given at this time. We’ll be hearing much more about the game at E3 on June 10th during Square Enix’s press conference.
