While there were a bunch of interesting indie title announced for the Nintendo Switch during Nintendo’s Indie Showcase, however among them that caught our eye was No More Heroes 3 SUPER MEAT BOY FOREVER, the sequel to Team Meat’s extremely popular and extremely difficult platformer.
Super Meat Boy Forever sees the return of Dr. Fetus as the kidnaps Meat Boy and Bandage Girl’s baby, Nugget. Just like the original, players will have to navigate a series of buzzsaws and deadly hazards to rescue Nugget, only this time the levels will become more difficult every time you clear them.
“Each time you beat a level, it reconstructs into a harder version of itself (up to a point…we aren’t gods). This is all carefully designed, we aren’t like, throwing 50,000 saws at you and calling it ‘hard.'” Team Meat said in a press release.
According to Team Meat, the game will see six chapters, a new ranking system and daily challenges, as well as updated controls. The controls will consist of two buttons, which will allow Meat Boy and Bandage Girl to jump, dive, slide and punch and kick enemies.
In other words, it’s a good thing that the Switch JoyCon’s can detach from the console because they’re likely going to be thrown in fits of rage.
Super Meat Boy Forever will launching 2018, and will be available on the Switch first before going to PS4, Xbox One and PC, with a mobile release following sometime after. For Switch owners who didn’t get to play the original, Team Meat teased that the game will be coming to Switch via Twitter, saying to a fan that it will “likely come to the Switch later this year.”
