We’ve already asked “What Were They Thinking” when it came to the Suicide Squad movie, but a video game tie-in long after the film’s release is just as strange. Never-the-less, DC’s Cinematic Universe version of Joker and Harley Quinn from 2016’s Suicide Squad will be making a guest appearance in PlayerUknown’s Battlegrounds soon.
PUBG Corp didn’t provide a release date or how the two characters will impact PUBG and to our knowledge they’re just additional skins. There has been hints that Harley’s Baseball Bat weapon may become a new melee weapon when the skins launches.
The timing of this announcement plus the critical assessment of Suicide Squad, especially towards Joker’s appearance, makes this an odd inclusion to the game. That being said, it’s not strange to see Comic Villains in a Battle Royale title as Marvel brought over Thanos to Fortnite earlier this year in an Avengers: Infinity War tie-in that came with its own Limited Time Mode.
