Gameitall Street Fighter V was announced last year during the Playstation Experience, so it’s only fitting that it’s last Launch Character would get announced during the latest expo. During the Expo earlier today, producer Yoshinori Ono took the stage to introduce FANG, a new fighter to the series with a unique fighting style with a first look trailer.
Capcom expanded on FANG’s role in the game and his unique fighting style which gives players the ability to poison your opponent via a post on Capcom-Unity.
“Whenever his poison attacks connect, they continuously deal damage to the opponent’s life bar until he gets hit or the poison runs its course,” Capcom said. “F.A.N.G’s sinister long range attacks and slippery movements, paired with his ability to poison, will leave his opponents feeling ill.”
In addition to the new character, Ono also revealed the 6 additional fighters that will be added in as DLC after launch, the reveal showed fan favourites Balrog and Guile from Street Fighter 2; Alex, Ibuki and Urien from Street Fighter 3; and Juri from Street Fighter 4.
Each of these fighters can be earned in game by winning Fight Money, or purchasing Zenny, Street Fighter V’s take on Microtransactions. These points will allow you to purchase the new characters at 600 Zenny, and ‘Premium costumes’ at 400 Zenny. Players can also by pass this by purchasing the Season Pass for $29.99 for the first batch of fighers or Zenny Packs. Here is an idea of what we can expect the Zenny packs to cost.
- 100 Zenny = Purchase for $0.99 / €0.99 / £0.79
- 550 Zenny = Purchase for $4.99/€4.99/£3.99 (receive a 50 Zenny bonus)
- 1200 Zenny = Purchase for $9.99/€9.99/£7.99 (receive a 200 Zenny bonus)
- 4000 Zenny = Purchase for $29.99/ €29.99/£24.99 (receive a 1000 Zenny bonus)
There was no word on pricing for characters and costumes using Fight Money at this time,
