Annapurna Animation has announced that their next project would be a film adaptation of BlueTwelve Studios hit game/cat simulator, Stray.
Stray is an adventure puzzle game which was a timed exclusive for PlayStation and recently was released on Xbox in August, which puts players in the role of a stray cat tasked with escaping a robot run city with the help of a drone named B-12 and avoid material devouring creatures. The game received high praise for its story, exploration and accurate depiction of cats.
Annapurna Animation was established in December 2022 and is lead by former Disney Animation Executives Robert Baird and Andrew Millstein. The animation branch of Annapurna does plan to adapt more titles from the studio starting with Stray. The studio also announced in a Press Release that Nick Bruno and Julie Zackary, director and producer, respectively, of Netflix animated film Nimona have joined the Annapurna division and are set to develop other various projects, as well.
