When EA announced that the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront will be receiving an open Beta in October, they let loose information about a new game mode called Drop Zone, stating that they will be releasing more closer to the Beta launch.
Now is that time, as DICE has detailed the Drop Zone mode, describing it to be similar to King of the Hill which will pit players against each other as either Rebels or Empire soldiers attempting to secure pods that drop from the sky in a 16-player battle.
According to DICE, players will need to hold the locations of drop pods after they fall from the sky; the first team to capture five of those pods or the team who holds the majority of the drop pods after 10 minutes will emerge the victor.
“We’re promoting the idea of a fast, action-packed game where you need to be mobile and think on your feet,” said lead level designer Dennis Brännvall. “Camping doesn’t really pay off.”
We’ll be able to test out Drop Zone, along with Walker Assault and Survival modes when the Beta launches this October, it will be join by another handful of new modes when the game launches on November 17th.
