It took a long time to finally get our hands on Final Fantasy XV and Square Enix is not going to let the Game of the Year winning RPG go just yet. During a panel at PAX East about the PC version of the game and modes, Square Enix outlined its roadmap for additional Final Fantasy XV content including a stand-alone version of the Multiplayer Expansion – Comrades.
In the roadmap, at least two planned updateds for Comrades was announced, the first hitting in the summer, around the time that Square Enix plans to release the stand-alone version, and the second being released in Winter 2018.
The Comrades’ Character Customization tools will also be carried over to the single-player campaign, or at least in the PC version of FFXV, which will allow players to create their own protagonist. The PC version will also get a level editor later this year which Square Enix showed off an example of a golf game that was built using the editor.
Square Enix also announced four more pieces of episodic content for 2019. They listed the episodes as follows:
- Episode I: Ardyn — “The Conflict of the Sage”
This story portrays the struggles of Ardyn. Witness the resentment he harbored towards Lucis for over 2,000 years, and his clashes with the Astrals. - Episode Side Story: Aranea — “The Beginning of the End”
A side-story about the Starscourge depicted from the Niflheim’s perspective. The final day of the Empire turns out to be Aranea’s worst day. - Episode II: Lunafreya — “The Choice of Freedom”
This story’s about Luna’s fate, which not even death can free her from. Her battle to save the one she loves overturns the destiny dealt to the Lucian King. - Episode III: Noctis — “The Final Strike”
Parting ways with the Astrals, Noctis embarks upon his final battle in order to attain the ideal future for all his people.
The last episode announced is the most interesting of the group as it will feature a “grand alternate finale” for Final Fantasy XV.
Square Enix did not give any release dates other then the tentative release windows, however it’s great to see more content on its way for the highly praised RPG.
