Hot of the tail of Crash Banicoot’s N.Sane Trilogy, Activision has confirmed the return of another PSOne mascot with Spyro The Dragon: Reignited Trilogy.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One on Sept. 21st and will consist of the first three games in the series (Spyro The Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, Spyro: Year of the Dragon) and will be developed by Toys for Bob – who previously worked on Activision’s Skylanders franchise, itself a spin-off/sequel of the Spyro series.
According to Activision’s press release, The Reignited Trilogy has been “remade from the ground up” and will have “improved environments, updated controls, brand-new lighting and recreated cinematics,” as well also “full analog stick support and smooth camera handling” and updated soundtrack.
Similar to Crash’s remastered trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be reasonably priced at $39.99. Spyro was originally developed by Insomniac Games who have moved on to the Ratchet and Clank series and more recently releasing a new Spider-Man title on PS4 later this year. Spyro’s last solo adventure was The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon in 2008, however Activision’s Skylanders series featured Spyro as a main character, that series went on to spawn a popular toy-to-game franchise and a well receive Netflix Kids show.
