Last night I had a least 3 different things to do. I could go to two different Christmas parties, and/or watch the Pay-per-view UFC at each one of those, I could have gotten smashed, instead I decided to watch the Spike Video Game Trailers… oh wait… Video Game Awards. The biggest clusterf**k of gaming information I’ve ever seen, if you didn’t watch, be thankful.
While a friend and I watched the VGA’s, we were shown the first award right off the bat, being best action/adventure, what you would consider a real award, half an hour later after 2 trailers for upcoming games and the host making an ass of himself, we get most anticipated game of 2012, which is not a real award, another half an hour later and several more trailers, Seth Green came on stage and announced that Legend of Zelda was inducted as the first game ever to the video game hall of fame.
At this point in a rapid fire session, they announced the winners of several games. More trailers for another half a hour later, we got Shooter of the year, more trailers then Game of the Year.
So this is what we counted, aside from performances and sexiest commercial breaks (what the hell Dr.Pepper.) We counted 3 real awards where they announced the Nominees, showed gameplay, and gave the award to somebody, to 11 Trailers, presented by people who really didn’t want to be there. (Seriously Spike, having one of the Jonas Brothers announcing the trailer to Rainbow Six: Patriots is pretty stupid.)
We do, however, have the winners here, listed below. Tell us what you think, either about Spike’s awards ceremony or about the winners. Stay tuned this week though as we will announce our best for the first Gameitall.com Game of the Year, with no Jonas Brothers, Zach Levi doing “If you ____. You Might be a Douchebag” jokes, and nothing that would ruin Felicia Day’s reputation.
