Is there a way that a game can be too offensive? Australia and the EMEA region, which covers the continents and areas of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, seem to think so as the upcoming South Park: The Stick of Truth has been cited as censored in those regions.
BT.com spotted this information in a document sent to publications that Ubisoft had cut 7 scenes from the EMEA version of the game. Each scene mentioned were about 20 seconds long and while is nothing new to expect from the adult cartoon comedy, some of the content is quite NSFW. For potential spoilers and those with a weak stomach, we’ve included the mentioning of these scenes after the jump.
According to the document, of the seven scenes that were removed from the EMEA versions of the game include “a mini-game in which the doctor is performing an abortion on the player,” “a mini-game in which the player is performing an abortion on the character Randy,” and “five anal probing scenes involving someone actively being probed.”
Ubisoft also stated that the game continues as normal before and after the scene, and that each one is replaced by an image and description selected by South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. This is similar event in Australia, where Player Attack also noted that one of those said scenes was replaced with a still image of a crying koala, and a large text reading “CENSORED.”
South Park: The Stick of Truth will be finally hitting stores next week on March 4th 2014 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
