Seems like the Playstation Network Exclusive TV Show; Powers, based off the Icon Comics graphic novel has earned enough praise to warrant a season 2. I say ‘seems’ because Canadians have yet to actually be able to watch it. At least, legally.
The show’s 10-episode run is free to PSPlus subscribers, and follows a pair of Chicago homicide detectives who investigate cases involving “powers” — individuals with super powers.
“The reception to Powers has been incredible and we are thrilled to have successfully launched a platform for original content with the PlayStation gamer in mind,” said John Koller, vice president of platforms marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America, in a press release. “We believe original content will continue to be a key pillar as we broaden the value proposition for PlayStation Plus, and we’re excited for what’s to come with season two of Powers.”
Season two will “broaden the Powers universe and bring even more of the fan-favorite characters and storylines to life,” said Jamie Erlicht, Sony Pictures Television’s president of programming and development. Sony Pictures Television produces Powers in conjunction with Jinxworld and Circle of Confusion. Series writer and illustrator Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming are two of the series’ executive producers.
Hopefully with Season 2’s announcement, we’ll get to see Powers outside of the US.
