During the Silent Hill Transmission livestream, Konami revealed that not only is Silent Hill 2 getting the remake treatment, but it will also be the focus to reboot the cinematic franchise with “Return to Silent Hill.”
Return to Silent Hill will follow a similar plot to Silent Hill 2, where a man makes his way to Silent Hill in search for a lost love, and instead deal with the nightmare that usually gets inflicted on those who enter the cursed town, including the return of the series most recognizable monster – Pyramid Head.
The movie is going to be directed by Christophe Gans – the director of the original 2006 Silent Hill film. While the film has its critics, it has been widely accepted as a great adaptation. The same could not be said for its sequel – 2012’s Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, which was directed by Ash vs The Evil Dead’s M.J. Bassett, which killed any further cinematic projects for the franchise.
No casting or release date has been given at the moment as the film is in early production.
