After 10 years of no Silent Hill games, Konami delivered a first look at several titles in the works, but one of the more interesting one was Silent Hill f – a new entry in the series that is likely going to turn the franchise upside down.
According to Konami – Silent Hill f is “a completely new story set in 1960’s Japan featuring a beautiful, yet horrifying world.” The team developing the game includes writer Ryukishi07, the anonymous creator of the When They Cry visual novel series; “kera,” a character and creature designer; producer Motoi Okamoto, formerly of Nintendo, who worked on Luigi’s Mansion and Wii Play; and studio NeoBards – who have worked on several projects with Capcom including the Resident Evil Multiplayer games Re:Verse and Resistance.
Of the game itself, there isn’t too much to go on at the moment. The teaser trailer does check off some of the important Silent Hill trops – dark, foggy, and possibly abandoned rural town – however a flower-like growth seems to be the focus of the horror that we’ll be running from in this title.
While the game looks more of a sequel to Forbidden Siren or a Fatal Frame title at the moment, we’ll have to wait till we get more information to see how this connects to the series.
