Nearly two years after director Yu Suzuki expected to launch the game, Shenmue 3 is now currently locked in for an August 27th 2019 release date. Deep Silver released a new trailer alongside the release date during Gamescom yesterday. The trailer showed off hero Ryo Hazuki attempting to uncover the truth about his father’s death and delivers a smackdown on everyone in his way.
Shenmue 3 has had a bumpy road to release. The game was announced during the Sony E3 presentation at E3 2015, where it was promptly open to Kickstarter. The campaign broke Kickstarter records in the process raising over $6 million during the length of the campaign. Since then the project was delayed twice before coming to the release date mentioned above.
Still those who haven’t played Shenmue or those patiently waiting for the third entry can enjoy the Shenmue I & II Remastered collection which hit PS4, Xbox One and PC this week, giving people plenty to jump back into this classic title. Shenmue 3 is currently in development for PS4 and PC.
