Those waiting for the release of the remastered bundle for Shenmue 1 & 2 won’t have to wait long, as Sega has officially confirmed that the bundle will be releasing on Aug. 21st on PS4, PC and Xbox One for $29.99 USD.
Shenmue 1 & 2 was announced back in April and is part of Sega’s push to bring several of their titles to PC including Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and upcoming Valkyria Chronicles 4. The PC version of Shenmue has several dedicated options including fully scalable screen resolution and other graphical options, while all versions will receive an updated interface, Japanese and English voice-over and the option for modern or classic controls.
Shenmue originally debuted in 1999 on the Sega Dreamcast, at the time the game was said to have the most expensive video game developed with production and marketing costs ranging from $47 to $70 Million USD. Shenmue 2 was released in 2001 on Dreamcast and the original Xbox. While the franchise ended on a cliffhanger for several years, the creator of the series – Yu Suzuki – brought the series back via Kickstarter in 2015 earning more than $6.5 million via crowdfunding. Shenmue 3 was planned for a 2017 release but had been delayed multiple times and is now schedule for launch in 2019.
