The team at Wayforward (Ducktales HD, Contra 4 and Double Dragon: Neon) have something to celebrate as their Kickstarter funded game, Shantae: Half Genie Hero, has raised $776,084. Clearing the $700,000 stretch goal “Costume Swap“, which will offer players three more fully-animated outfits for use in the game.
Shantae is a side-scrolling adventure game that Wayforward likened to Metroid and Legend of Zelda, in which players play A belly-dancing Genie who using her hair as a whip-like weapon and dancing to transform into creatures. The game encourages exploration and puzzle-solving to complete it’s chapter based levels, each which includes “subplots, friends and foes, a new Transformation to discover, puzzles to solve, hazards to overcome and a Boss to conquer.”
Shantae: Half Genie Hero will be launch on multiple platforms (PS3, Xbox 360, Steam, PS Vita, Vita TV, Wii U and next-gen consoles PS4 and Xbox One) sometime in August 2014.
