As you may have noticed, Sega has been stepping up their Localization game. With the releases of North American and Europe releases of Yakuza 0, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, and the SEGA 3D Classics Collection, it’s a good time to be a fan of Sega right now.
Their Localization team isn’t stopping there though, as Sega announced that North America will be getting Sega’s Dungeon Crawling RPG, 7th Dragon: Code VFD later this summer. If you’re unfamiliar with the series, you might not be alone. Code VFD is the third entry in the series about Dragons appearing in 2100 to destroy humanity.
While the series has been active since 2009 on the DS, this is the first entry to be released outside of Japan. However, Code VFD is a stand-alone title with an unique to series story and gameplay elements, so you won’t be missing out jumping into the series.
Sega outlined a few key features of the game, which included a Time-Travel based story that will allow the player to travel to the mythical Atlantis, the future city of Eden or modern day Tokyo in order to tip the balance in humanity favour in a war against the dragons. It will also feature a 9 player party that is completely customized with 8 different classes, 40 voice options, and 96 appearance options. There is even a base building mechanic, where party members can recuperate, develop skills, go on dates, and chill at a Cat Cafe.
No release date has been set for the game as of yet, but you can check out the trailer (above) and a gallery of screenshots below.
