The fantastical adventures of dead-beat bass player Scott Pilgrim will be coming back to screens, this time thanks to Netflix and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group that created The Umbrella Academy and Chucky.
The animated Scott Pilgrim series will be handled by Science SARU, the animation team behind Devilman Crybaby. As if that wasn’t enough to raise confidence in the show, the Hollywood Reporter has also confirmed that the series will be written by the comics creator, Bryan Lee O’Malley, and produced by Ben David Gabinski who previously worked on Nickelodeon’s “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” revival.
The Scott Pilgrim comic series follows the titular character as he attempts to get his life on track while dealing with relationship problems and fighting his girlfriend’s 7 Evil Exes. The comics were a hit and received a movie adaptation from Hot Fuzz and Shawn of the Dead director Edgar Wright in 2012 under the title of “Scott Pilgrim vs The World.” The comics also received a video game adaptation, which received a re-release last year.
There is currently no release date or casting for the project as it was just announced, however, we will update you on any progress.
