SNK has released a new trailer ahead of next week’s Tokyo Game Show (TGS) marking the return or possible remake for Samurai Showdown.
The game is set to be a PS4 exclusive and is powered by the Unreal Engine, which the new trailer shows off brilliantly by highlighting the bloody action between the various weapon wielding martial artists. Sadly aside from the new trailer, SNK did not give much information about the upcoming game, except that they’re expecting the game to launch in 2019.
The Samurai Showdown series has been a staple of the fighting game community in the 1990s and along with King of Fighters, was one of the fighting games to put SNK on the map. Sadly the series has been missing from the fighter renaissance we’ve been having, with the last entry coming out on the Xbox 360 as Samurai Showdown: Sen in 2008.
We’ll hopefully get more information at TGS next week.
