Saying that Netflix has some high quality TV Shows is an understatement, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Marco Polo and Bojack Horseman have all been major hits for the streaming service and with 4 Marvel properties coming exclusively to Netflix is definitely going to hold subscriptions for a while. What comes as a surprise though is a report from The Wall Street Journal stating that Netflix is currently working with Nintendo about setting up a project based on The Legend of Zelda.
According to the report, they are in the early stages of developing the show which will feature “an ordinary boy named Link who must rescue a princess named Zelda and save a fantasy world called Hyrule.” The service is currently looking for writers for the show and described the series as “The Game of Thrones” for a family audience.
Legend of Zelda was previously a cartoon that ran for one season in 1989 and is famous for delivering the classic line “Well Excuuuussseee Me Princess.” With the project still seeking writers for the show, it’s possible that this may not even gain ground as Netflix or Nintendo could kill the project at any time. A representive from Netflix and Nintendo so far has not commented about the project at the moment, but we will keep you posted if there is any updates on the project.
