What does the team behind Max Payne and Alan Wake have to do with the Oscars? Sadly it’s not because of the great story telling or style that their games have, but rather to a connection made in their upcoming Xbox One exclusive Quantum Break.
A note on the official Remedy Games website congratulates Greg Louden for work at London-based effects studio Framestore, which had one an academy award for Best Visual Effects for their work in Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity staring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. According to Louden’s resume, he oversaw shots of Gravity‘s computer-generated interiors, with a focus on the free-floating objects that surrounded Sandra Bullock’s stranded character. The movie won quite a bit of awards last week including best director, cinematography, editing, musical score, sound mixing, sound editing.
So what does this have to do with Quantum Break? Currently, Greg Louden is working with Remedy on Quantum Break for visual effects, scripting and events for level design. Considering that there is a planed live action series for the upcoming time-shifting shooter, we can admit having his skills in for the presentation might help drive the graphical appeal of the game home for many players.
