Alan Wake developers Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that they are in the early-stages of working on a sequel to their 2019 sci-fi action game Control, with series game director Mikael Kasurinen, “this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on.”
According to the studio, the game has received an “initial development budget” of €50 million in a co-development and co-publishing agreement with 505 Games, who published the first game. Remedy will publish the game on PC, while 505 will take care of the console release.
A sequel to the shooter was teased last year as Remedy confirmed that they were working on both a Multiplayer spin-off and a bigger-budget Control Game. “I’m now proud to confirm that the bigger-budget Control game, also known as Codename Heron, is Control 2, a full-blown sequel,” said Remedy chief executive Tero Virtala.
Remedy has several projects in the works, outside of the two Control projects the studio is also working on Alan Wake 2, a Survival Horror sequel to their hit 2010 thriller, a remake of the first two Max Payne games with Rockstar, and a free-to-play cooperative shooter with Tencent.
Control is an intriguing action thriller that follows Jessie Faden, a woman who becomes the Director of the Bureau of Control which investigates Supernatural phenomenon and events, as a force called The Hiss begins to infiltrate the Bureau and its ever-shifting headquarters. Featuring some fun powers to play around with, and some of the best gunplay in recent gaming history, Control is a game that fans of story-focused shooters need to play.
