So quick recap up to now. Konami released the first ever Playable Teaser, titled PT, which was a teaser for a new Silent Hill game with Hideo Kojima at the helm. Konami and Hideo Kojima have a spat, resulting in Kojima leaving the company, we’ve yet to confirmed if he had been fired or left on his own accord however we can agree that it’s like an ugly breakup. Kojima’s name had been removed from Metal Gear Solid 5, and Kojima Productions LA was renamed to Konami Los Angeles Studio. On top of this, Kojima’s other project, Silent Hills, was left in limbo for some time until director Guillermo Del Toro and Actor Norman Reedus, who were both part of the project, had confirmed it was cancelled. After the news was leaked, Konami had officially cancelled the game, also announcing that PT will be taken off the Playstation Network.
A few days after the teaser was taken off the network, players found that they were unable to re-download it if they had deleted the game, an issue that Playstation is now advising when you attempt to remove the game from your hard drive. Aside from this, users had placed PT-installed PS4s on sale on EBay in an attempt to cash in on this issue.
Things have changed though, and EBay has taken down these Auctions. One Ebay user with such an auction had reached out to Kotaku with the email that provided their reasoning.
While this isn’t the first time that something like this had happened, after all, EBay did remove auctions for Iphones with the then pulled Flappy Bird.
I recommend to everyone with a copy of PT to never ever delete it, keep it, cherish it because you now hold on to a piece of gaming history.
