Niantic has confirmed a major update to the 2016 mobile hit, Pokemon Go, stating 80 new Pokemon from Generation 2 will begin to appear in the game along with some other new gameplay features.
The update will add Pokemon from the Johto region including Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile and more. On top of this, new Evolutionary items and berries will be added to help players complete their Johto collection and make battles less difficult. The berries include the Nanab Berry and Pinap Berry, the Nanab will slow Pokemon and make them less successful in running away, while the Pinap Berry will help players by giving double the candy that they would have received on a successful catch. Other features in the update includes more trainer customization.
At the time of writing this article, Niantic did no give a release date for the update, only stating that it will be available later this week. Of course, we will update this article once we are aware of the update.
