During Sony’s State of Play Livestream, Square Enix and PlatinumGames had some time to show off their mysterious new title, Babylon’s Fall, and while we have no sweet clue on what is happening in the game – like most games from PlatinumGames, the combat looks awesome.
The gameplay trailer showed off some of the basic things we’d expect from a high-fantasy brawler. Cool-looking ruins, giant monsters, crazy aerial combos and knights pulling swords out of mid-air in what only gives us the idea of what could have happened if Square Enix let PlatinumGames develop Final Fantasy 15 (don’t lie to yourself – you know you kind of want to see this now).
Square Enix gave an official statement about the game shortly after the trailer was released.
Babylon’s Fall is a brand new game from Square Enix, developed in partnership with renowned action specialists PlatinumGamesInc (Bayonette series, Nier: Automata)
In our new teaser trailer, unveiled during the State of Play broadcast earlier today, take an early look at the game’s fluid action gameplay for the first time as well its striking brushstroke visual art-style delivered by the original “Brushwork Filter.”
No release date has been set for Babylon’s Fall, but we can expect to hear more about the game “next summer.” We do know that Square Enix plans on publishing the game on PC via Steam and PS4.
