Next to Telltale Games, Platinum Games is probably the busiest game company out there. Aside from the Microsoft exclusive Scalebound, which was sadly absent from E3 in favour for a Gamescom appearance, the team has announced that they are working on 3 other titles which include a couple of high profile IPs.
The first was announced during a segment on Youtube Live @ E3, but was leaked earlier then expected. Returning to their partnership with Activison, the team is working on a Gen-1 Transformers game called “Transformers: Devastation.” The game uses cel-shaded graphics and plays in the brawler style that we come to know and love from the team. The game has been in development since early 2014 and is set for a launch later this year on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and PS4.
Their second game of E3 was shown at the Nintendo Digital Event, being the highly anticipated Star Fox Zero. The team has been working with Nintendo on the title for a while now and we got our first look yesterday, which showed off new transformation modes, a new vehicle, new planets and giant boss battles that screamed Platinum Games. Star Fox Zero is currently set to a holiday 2015 release.
Finally, at the Square Enix conference, Platinum showed off a new sequel to the cult favourite Action RPG Nier. According to the game’s director, Yoko Taro, Square Enix had approached Platinum in hopes of adding more action to the title. The original was a spin-off of the Drakengard series developed by Cavia. Aside from a teaser trailer, there was not much information to share about the title yet. It is expected for a 2016 release.
