EA and Popcap’s Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is shaping up to be bigger and better than the original, the proof of that comes from one of it’s biggest new features, the Backyard Battleground, a giant playable hub that allows you upgrade your characters, explore for treasure and play some mini-games as well.
While the team wants to keep some of the secrets of Backyard Battleground for when the game launches, Sr. Creative Director Jeremy Vanhoozer did detail 3 of the really cool features for the hub. One of which was the Mini-games, which includes the “Flag of Power” survival mode which places you directly in the centre of the map to fight waves of invading Plants or Zombies in solo or co-op. The Hub will also serve as a place to customize your Plants/Zombies at their bases, even take up story missions from Heroes of the Plants vs Zombies world.
The team goes into more details in the trailer above. Garden Warfare 2 is expected to launch on February 23rd 2016 in North America, with those who pre-order the game getting access to the Grass Effect Z7-Mech.
