During Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto announced with a brief teaser that Pikmin 4 is in development and is currently set to release in 2023.
While the teaser didn’t give us any gameplay, one detail that it does share is the players viewing the world of Pikmin 4 from the Pikmin’s ground-level perspective. “Nintendo Switch has made controlling the game simpler, meaning you can concentrate on the core essence of Pikmin Gameplay,” Miyamoto said. ” We call it Dandori in Japanese, or strategically planning, deploying, and commanding the Pikmin.”
The last main entry in the strategy/puzzle series, Pikmin 3, was released in 2013, however; the series hasn’t been completely dormant since then, as Nintendo released Hey! Pikmin in 2017 on the 3DS, and Pokemon Go maker Niantic developer Pikmin Bloom in 2021, a mobile game encouraging players to walk and spread their Pikmin around their town/walking path.
Nintendo has promised a more detailed look at Pikmin 4 ahead of the game’s release on Switch next year.
