Overkill studios Payday: The Heist was a breath of fresh air to the co-operative multiplayer shooter, set as robbers attempting to earn their keep in a Left 4 Dead style. Payday 2 hopes to improve the game with better gun and stealth mechanics as well as a new Crimnet mode which seems to feature a story mode, and the ability to use your hard earned cash from preforming heist to upgrade your character and weapons.
Overkill has mentioned that they had so many great ideas that they couldn’t cut from the game, so they made the game as a retail title priced at $29.99 and $49.99 for a collectors edition (no word yet on what is in the collectors, hopefully one of the masks from the game.) Pre-ordering the game at your local game store or through Steam will earn you access to some extra perks including a red dot weapon sight attachment, a trio of exclusive masks and a fistful of in-game cash.
The game is set for an August release for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. To help boost knowledge of the game, a webseries will be running on Youtube delivering a back story for all the characters in the game. We’re big fans of heist movies like Heat, so we’re going to keep a eye on this one.
