If you’re the casual Overwatch Player, you might want to log in between now and April 3rd to get an awesome Starcraft inspired outfit for free in honour of the 20th anniversary of the game that help Blizzard Entertainment become a house-hold name it is today.
Signing into Overwatch will grant you a free Widowmaker skin based on StarCraft’s Kerrigan in her pre-Zerg makeover as a Terran Ghost. This is one of multiple cross-promotional goodies Blizzard has planned to celebrate StarCraft’s 20th anniversary on March 31st, currently players can get portraits and decals by logging into StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft 2, and Diablo 3 players can get a Battlecruiser pet.
As of anniversary events we haven’t seen yet, Hearthstone will also see a StarCraft themed Tavern Brawl on March 21st, Heroes of the Storm will also sport anniversary portraits start on March 27th, and World of Warcraft will also get its own Starcraft pets.
StarCraft has been the centre of attention recently as Blizzard laid the foundations of the anniversary celebration last year, providing the original version of the game for free, followed by a 4K remastered version, and making The first game in the three-part StarCraft 2 – Wings of Liberty, free as well.
As for Overwatch, the latest character had recently been announced to be Brigette, a support-class character who plays in a similar fashion to the Overwatch tank Reinhardt, and the daughter of Torbjorn, she was previously seen in Reinhardt’s Pride and Glory animated short. At the time of writing, She is currently available via the Public Test Realm on PC, but should be joining the game on PC, PS4 and Xbox One soon.
