Blizzard is celebrating 2 years of Overwatch from May 22nd through June 12 with the return of the Anniversary event which is set to bring more items, old favourites and a new map.
According to Blizzard, the anniversary event will include more than 50 new items, including eight Legendary Skins and 3 Epic Skins, and like last year, new dance emotes will be added for the new characters that joined the game since last years event (Doomfist, Moira, and Brigitte). Previous rewards and items will also be back in rotation and past seasonal brawls will be added to the Arcade and rotated daily including those found in the last event – the Overwatch: Archives.
A new Deathmatch map will be included into the game called Petra, which will also bring in a new Competitive mode, which features placement matches, skill rating tiers and leaderboards.
During the event Blizzard will also be making some changes to the Lootboxes. As usual, players who play the game during the event will get one lootbox and is guaranteed one legendary item, those how purchase at 50 Loot Box Bundle ($39.99USD) will also receive one bonus Legendary Anniversary Loot Box. For this event, all previous season event loot will also be included with in this event, allowing you a second (or third) chance to pick up those Summer Games or Halloween skins you missed previously.
For those who haven’t played the extremely popular hero shooter, Overwatch and the Anniversary Event will be playable for all with a free weekend which will run from May 25th through 29th. Those on PS4 looking to enjoy the game will not need a PSPlus account to play online during that free week.
Finally, Blizzard also announced another version of the game to be released digitally on May 22nd called the Overwatch Legendary Edition. This version will include a set of Legendary, Epic, and Origin Skins for a total of 15 skins with the purchase of the game.
