Blizzard Entertainment is celebrating the first anniversary of their beloved Multiplayer Shooter, Overwatch, with a special anniversary Event, a Free Game Weekend and a Game of the Year edition which will hit stores next week.
The anniversary will be held from May 23rd until June 12th, however at the time of writing Blizzard did not announce what content will be available for the event. Previous Events included new character skins, sprays, character outros, along with new game modes like the beloved Capture the Flag, and two Horde Mode events which were insanely popular. We will update when we have further news from Blizzard, who plans to release more information within the week.
On top of this, people who have not picked up the game yet can try it out for free between May 26th-May 29th. The Free Weekend will give players full access to the game between these dates and allow them to level up and unlock customization options which can be carried over with a purchase of the game. The Free Weekend will be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Finally we have the Game of the Year edition, which releases on May 23rd. This is similar to the Origins Edition which came with the console version of the game, featuring some dedicated skins, some lovely new Overwatch inspired items for Diablo 3, Heroes of the Storm, Starcraft 2 and World of Warcraft. On top of that content, players will also get 10 free Loot boxes. No word on price of the Game of the Year edition at the moment.
