Red Barrels felt it was time to re-open the gates of the asylum in the form of a sort of prequel. In the upcoming Outlast: Whistleblower DLC, you play as the software engineer who had tipped off our independent journalist main character from the first instalment.
Waylon Park was under contract by Murkoff Corporation, the same company that owned Mount Massive Asylum and after staying there for two weeks he thought something sinister was going on, especially not being able to contact his family on the outside. Deciding not to trust any of the doctors and scientists and disapproving of their cruel experiments he sets out to expose them publicly.
The team at Red Barrels stated that the DLC “will actually stretch past the events of the first game to show the final chapter in Mount Massive Asylum’s story” and from what we can see from the single screenshot released on the Red Barrels Games’ website… It might be just as, if not way more scary than the first one.
The Whistleblower DLC will be available sometime this April.
