During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event, we were “treated” to our first glimpse of the third entry in the Outlast series – Outlast Trials. While the original games were mainly a single-player ordeal, you’ll now be able to share the scares with friends with cooperative multiplayer for up to 4 people.
“Set in the height of the Cold War era, players take on the role of test subjects abducted by the shadowy Murkoff Corporation,” reads the game’s official description. “Imprisoned in a secret Murkoff facility, players will be thrust into a series of physical and mental ordeals, tormented by iconic characters, and challenged alone or in teams to survive with their sanity intact.”
The trailer highlights a new bloody hospital to explore, filled with traps and deadly prisoners who probably want to wear your skin. Of course, this unsettling imagery isn’t complete with a creepy voice-over who talks about doing this for the good of mankind and to help heal people, which we find is the exact opposite of what’s happening here.
No release date was announced at this time, but we’ll be keeping an eye on this one.
