Last week, news came out that Australia’s Classification Board had refused classification for the upcoming Outlast 2, effectively banning the title for sale in Australia, due to scenes of sexual violence.
However it appears that the game has now received classification according to the game’s local publisher and has earned an 18+ rating, doing so by changing absolutely nothing. The reversal comes after an internal review that took place following the original decision. In other words the Classification board simply just changed their mind about the severity of the game’s content.
You can read the scene in question as part of a document the classification board had previously released here. Outlast 2 is set to be released on April 25th 2017, with a physical release coming at the same time with the original game and its DLC.
