Are you still holding on to your previous gen consoles and have yet to upgrade? Well we got some bad news for you as this may start being the standard of gaming moving forward as the end of last gen is quickly approaching.
This doomsday prophecy comes from Activision announcing that the next entry in it’s multiplatform shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, will not have a campaign mode on PS3 and Xbox 360. The last gen versions of the game will only focus the character class Multiplayer and 1940’s inspired Zombie mode titled “Shadows of Evil,” however new features such as weapon paint shop and the esports tool will also not carry over to the last gen consoles.
The reason behind the campaign’s exclusion is due to how ambitious the 1-4 player campaign is. “The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player [co-op] Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware,” said Activision. “Delivering the best possible gameplay experience on all platforms is always our highest priority.”
So you’re missing a big chunk of your game, you might be expecting a bit of a price cut. Activision stated that last gen versions will cost $49.99 ($69.99CAD according Ebgames.ca), so a $10 discount from the PS4 and Xbox One. To try make things better, Activision is offering a downloadable copy of Call of Duty Black Ops 1 which released back in 2010.
