Nintendo decided to drop a bomb on us this morning, confirming that they have formed an alliance with DeNa, a mobile provider in Japan, this alliance will allow all of the Nintendo IPs to be used for Mobile game development.
According to reports, there will be no ports of already created Nintendo games on the mobile platform, however “all Nintendo IP will be eligible for development and exploration by the alliance.” This will include high profile characters that the company has guarded for some time.
On top of this announcement, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata also mentioned some new hardware is currently underway. Little is currently known about the new console aside from a name, the NX; Iwata stated “It is too early to elaborate on the details of this project.”
Of course this is big news for Nintendo as this would show signs of change for the company, with new Mobile developments and a new console after only 3 years of the Wii U being on the market. We do know that we’ll have to wait a while for any formal details on the projects, as Iwata ended the conference with “We hope to share more information with you next year.”
