In an announcement from IGN, Nickelodeon announced a new platform fighter which will pit the company’s most famous cartoon characters against each other. At first glance, the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl looks to be a clone of Super Smash Bros. – after all, publisher GameMill also makes the Mario Kart-inspired Nickelodeon Kart Racer games.
The trailer showcased some classic characters from Nickelodeon’s history including Nigel Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys, Invader Zim, Helga from Hey Arnold!, and Powdered Toast Man from Ren & Stimpy, as well as characters from modern or still running shows including Lincoln and Lucy Loud from the Loud House, the cast of SpongeBob Squarepants, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
According to IGN, the game will include 20 themed levels that will be playable in both single-player and multiplayer and will feature local and online play.
I’m interested to see if Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will be a direct clone or if it’ll bring something new to the table. We’ll find out later this year as the game is slated for a Fall 2021 release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Series X/S.
