One would think that the Fatal Frame series, in which characters see and fight ghosts through a camera lens, pared with the AR tech camera that is in the 3DS, would be a match make in heaven. If early reports out of the latest Famitsu are accurate, we’ll soon get the opportunity to see if it is.
The Game, Called “Fatal Frame: Spirit Diary,” interacts with an included “AR Notebook” whose functions are currently unknown. In the game, you and a young girl investigate the cursed book, playing a host of minigames controlled with the AR camera and a battle mode in which players fight using “spirit pictures” of themselves.
It is currently unknown whether this game will be published by Tecmo, who handled most previous Fatal Frames (1, Crimson Butterflies, The Tormented,) or Nintendo, who published the Wii Fatal Frame (Mask of the Lunar Eclipse) — and then neglected to release it outside of Japan.
Which brings me to my next point, Nintendo of America, you have an audience who wants to play Fatal Frame, it is widely considered one of the best survival horror games of all time, so why are you holding out on us. Give the series a chance, because I can guarantee the market wants something different.
