The upcoming Live-Action Resident Evil may be The Final Chapter, but it won’t be the last that we’ll see from the franchise. Another CGI-Animated film based on the popular Survival Horror series is in production Japanese studio Marza Animation Planet, and is looking towards a 2017 release date.
While story details are light at the moment, we do know that Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass) is attached to write the film while Takanori Tsujimoto (Hard Revenge Milly, Ultraman X) has taken up the role of Director. The Grudge creator Takashi Shimizu is credited as the Executive Producer, while Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who also produces the live-action Resident Evil movies, is on-board as an executive supervisor. The CGI movie will also follow the previous CGI flicks, Resident Evil: Degeneration and Resident Evil: Damnation.
The Live-Action “Final Chapter” staring Milla Jovovich is aiming for a January 2017 release. The movie has seen it’s fair share of problems, with Jovovich’s stunt double being badly injured on set after a motorcycle stunt gone wrong. She has since then come out of a coma and is recovering.
