Netflix’s dedication to making more of their originals as video games is extending to one of their most praised shows on the platform, Narcos. A show that chronicles the fight against cocaine king Pablo Escobar and his drug empire.
The new game, Narcos: Rise of the Cartels, follows the events of Narcos Season 1 which saw DEA agents going after Escobar and his Medellin Cartel in Colombia. The game will feature two campaigns where players can choose to side with Escobar or DEA agent Steve Murphy.
The game is described as a “brutal tactical turn-based strategy game” with the trailers giving off an X-Com style vibe as the camera moves from top-down strategic focus to a third-person action view, while featuring the show’s cast (with the actor’s likeness) as playable characters, each with their own unique perks and abilities.
Rise of the cartels is being developed by Kuju (Marvel: ultimate Alliance 2) and published by Curve Digital. You can watch the entire series for Narcos and its companion show, Narcos: Mexico, on Netflix.
